Senate and House conferees will meet sometime Wednesday to discuss the Department of Transportation’s controversial proposal to curb truckers’ hours of service, which is part of the transportation appropriations bill.
The Senate version of the bill would ban funding the rules for next year, while the House version does not provide for any funding prohibition.
However, any agreement cannot be reached until conferees officially meet and a majority of them approves.

Sources have told Transport Topics that a tentative deal has been struck that would provide funds to continue the administration’s rulemaking process without implementing the final rule.
Wednesday’s meeting time and location have not been announced.
