I agree 100% with the letter to the editor in your June 25 edition headlined “SafeStat Scores.” As an insurance agent for the transportation industry, I know how important the SafeStat Scores are for trucking companies.

All insurance companies look at — and possibly use — SafeStat scores for pricing insurance. We know all drivers must meet specific qualifications to keep their commercial driver licenses, and the trucks also must meet strict safety guidelines. Why, then, do the federal inspectors of these same items not have to meet their guidelines? Or is it that not all the inspectors are qualified to do their jobs?
