Long Beach Port Approves Clean Trucks Plan

The Port of Long Beach, Calif., has approved the final details of its terms required for truckers to register for the port’s new clean trucks program, scheduled to begin Oct. 1.

The port’s commissioners voted to begin signing up carriers and independent owner-operators later this month.

Port officials said the plan will require truckers entering terminals to have a Transportation Worker Identification Credential, certify that their trucks comply with the new diesel emission standards and parking requirements, and pay an annual application fee of $250, plus $100 for each truck.
