It’s a long road to the National Truck Driving Championships.
Preparations begin in early spring as hundreds of trucking company of all sizes hold their competitions. Fleet winners advance to the championships held by each of the state trucking associations. State winners in each category of vehicle are then eligible to enter the nationals.
Throughout all levels of competition, drivers must maintain an accident-free record for at least the preceeding year.
This year’s 388 national drivers are scheduled to arrive in New Orleans on Aug. 8 to begin the competition that will reach its climax on Aug. 12.
