Lott Praises Mineta's Choice of Jackson as DOT Deputy

WASHINGTON — Michael P. Jackson, nominated to be Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta’s deputy, is a well-qualified shoo-in for the job, according to Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott.

At Jackson’s confirmation hearing April 25 before the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Lott called him a proven leader who is in step with Mineta’s stated goals of promoting safety, eliminating congestion, using technology to develop solutions and getting projects off the drawing board quicker.
