Mack Wants Larger Piece of Mid-Class Market

ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Positioning itself to take advantage of what it believes will be continuing growth in the medium-duty truck sales market, Mack Trucks named Paul Hozza vice president of medium-duty sales and market development.

Hozza will be responsible for developing products and expanding Mack’s range of trucks to serve the medium-duty market. Mack currently offers the Class 6 through 7 Mid-Liner, made by parent company Renault Vehicles Industriels in France.

The new market position and Hozza’s appointment signals Mack’s intent to beef up its medium-duty product line. The company will add a new cabover next year and is planning to expand into the lighter weight classes above 14,000 pounds with new models, Hozza said.

“We’re looking at introducing a new cabover in the Class 6-7 market range, sometime early next year,” he said. “It will be a new chassis from the ground up. We’re not going to take the current product and put a face-lift on it.”
