MAN Seeks to Expand Trucks Division, International Sales

German truck maker MAN AG plans to expand its commercial-vehicles division as it seeks to make more international sales, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

Chief Executive Officer Hakan Samuelsson wants to increase the Munich-based company’s capacity, Bloomberg said, citing the German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

A blend of MAN, Swedish rival Scania AB and Volkswagen AG’s heavy-truck unit is not an urgent topic for MAN, the paper quoted Samuelsson as saying.

Volkswagen is MAN’s largest shareholder and the controlling investor in Scania, holding 68.6% of the voting rights.

MAN is already taking truck orders for 2009, Bloomberg said, citing the newspaper report.
