MAN’s 2Q Profit Rises on Stronger European Truck Market

European truck maker MAN SE posted an improved second-quarter profit and boosted its 2011 earnings outlook on higher truck demand, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

Earnings before interest and taxes rose 58% to about $620 million, from $400 million a year ago, the company said in a statement.

Revenue rose 17% to $6 billion. Munich, Germany-based MAN reports its earnings in euros.

MAN raised its sales forecast, saying revenue this year will grow 10% to 15%. The previous target was for a rise of 7% to 10%, Bloomberg said.



First-half 2011 truck sales in Europe have risen 56% from a year ago, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, Bloomberg reported.
