MAN’s Third-Quarter Income Improves

German truck maker MAN SE’s third-quarter net income jumped to about $250 million, from $6 million a year ago, the company said Thursday.

Third-quarter orders increased to $5.2 billion, with about $4 billion from the truck division, Bloomberg reported, citing a company statement.

Full-year revenue may exceed last year’s $16.7 billion by more than 20%, the company said. Third-quarter orders rose 40%.

MAN is 29.9% owned by Volkswagen, Europe’s biggest carmaker. VW, which bought the MAN stake to help Swedish truck maker Scania fend off the German truckmaker’s hostile bid three years ago, took a controlling stake in Scania in 2008.
