Many Factors Figure In The Search For Insurance

With fewer insurers willing to write trucking policies today, it’s more important than ever for carriers to present their companies in the most favorable light possible to get the best rate quote.

The first thing to remember is time. Insurance companies need 120 days to evaluate new risks properly, according to Beasy McGlothlin, underwriting manager for St. Paul Transportation in St. Paul, Minn.

If you use a broker, use one that has a substantial interest in trucking, said William Prester, president of Aon Truck Group of Schaumburg, Ill. Be careful not to use multiple brokers to shop for coverage because doing so will bog down the process with insurance companies, he said.
