Strong demand for new trailers continued in March as order activity surged 71.6% from the same month a year ago, ACT Research reported.
U.S. manufacturers received 29,373 net orders last month, up from 17,117 in March 2013, ACT said.
The most recent total was down 1.9% from the 29,932 orders booked in February, but still marked the sixth straight month above 25,000.
Incoming orders totaled 85,088 during the first quarter, a 53.5% jump compared with the first three months of 2013.
Orders rose 22% in the six months from October through March, when order levels typically are at their highest, ACT said.
