Marten Reports Drop in First-Quarter Income

Refrigerated truckload carrier Marten Transport said its first-quarter net income was $2.7 million, or 12 cents a share, down from $4.6 million, or 21 cents, a year ago.

Operating revenue from trucking and logistics operations rose 9.1% to $143.4 million, the company said late Monday.

Truckload revenue gained 2.5% to $121.1 million, while logistics revenue, including brokerage and intermodal operations, jumped 67.6% to $22.2 million.

Marten is ranked No. 51 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
