Mary Phillips, a former senior vice president for legislative affairs for American Trucking Associations, is joining the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit as a senior professional staff member.
The announcement was made by House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-Pa.)
“Mary is an experienced, knowledgeable addition to the committee staff,” Shuster said. “She is well-versed in the many issues that we will be working to address in the next surface transportation reauthorization bill, and am excited to have her join our team.”
Phillips is a former associate administrator for policy and governmental affairs for the Federal Highway Administration and served as a senior professional staff member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
She also has experience working for several Class I railroads and as an analyst for the Amtrak Reform Council. She received her MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson School of Business.
Phillips was the chief lobbyist for ATA for more than three years, with a particular emphasis on MAP-21 work. She departed in January to open her own government affairs consulting firm, Phillips Strategic Services.
