Mass. Governor Signs Biofuels Law

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) signed a law to promote the use of biofuels, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% in the state, the Associated Press reported.

The law requires biofuel content in all diesel and home heating fuel sold in Massachusetts, gives preferential tax treatment to non-corn-based ethanol alternatives and proposes a new regional fuel standard for cars and trucks, AP said.

The proposed fuel standard for cars and trucks encourages new technology to reduce emissions, AP reported.
