McLeod Software said it will perform a benchmark study of carriers to give truckload carriers a better picture of their relative performance in several areas.

The study will examine several performance indicators, including people and headcount by category or role, fuel consumption, expense, purchasing and efficiency. Revenue miles, rates and surcharges also will be studied.

Participating carriers will receive a copy of the final benchmark report, which will include the high, low, median and average values for each category, according to McLeod.

The software company is partnering with accounting firm Katz, Sapper & Miller to produce the study.
