Component supplier Meritor Inc. launched its authorized rebuilder program in North America for drive axle carriers, including the company’s 145, 14X and 160 products.
Four Canadian companies became the first in a network of authorized rebuilder members to supply wholesale distributors and dealers across Canada with rebuilt Meritor carriers, according to the Troy, Mich.-based company.
The initial companies are Capital Gear of Edmonton, Alberta, Coast Powertrain of New Westminster, British Columbia, ULT Powertrain of Mississauga, Ontario, and The Gear Centre in Edmonton.
Meritor plans to extend the authorized rebuilder program to the United States this year.
“Meritor is partnering with exceptional rebuilders that share our commitment to helping fleets maximize uptime with coast-to-coast, 24-hour guaranteed delivery of highly reliable, rebuilt carriers which meet original performance specifications,” said Krishna Natarajan, senior director of steering, suspension and drivetrain and aftermarket for Meritor.
Meritor-trained commercial vehicle technicians at each rebuilder will have the capability to update the carriers with Meritor’s latest product innovations.
