MiX Telematics said it has entered into a multiyear agreement with Halliburton Co. to provide fleet-management, safety and compliance services for the Houston-based energy service firm’s fleet of more than 15,000 vehicles.
Halliburton ranks No. 5 on the Transport Topics Top 100 Private Carriers list with 5,637 tractors, 1,160 straight trucks and 8,935 trailers.
Under terms of the deal, MiX Telematics will provide systems to target training to driver behavior, improve fuel economy and asset utilization and ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
Skip Kinford, CEO of MiX Telematics Americas in Boca Raton, Florida, said winning the competitive bid “helps solidify our position as a premier telematics provider in North America.”
A merger between Halliburton and Baker Hughes Inc., another oil-services firm based in Houston, is pending. Baker Hughes ranks No. 16 on the Top 100 Private Carriers list with 2,282 tractors, 1,813 straight trucks and 2,856 trailers.
