'Mobile Warehouses' Expected to Increase Savings - at Expense of Smaller Carriers

The rising use of lead logistics providers by shippers could increase the total demand for trucking services, according to a number of logistics executives. But, they also say, that could lead to the creation of castes of winners and losers within the industry.

Large-scale logistics operations such as Vector SCM are supposed to make the total supply chain both more efficient and — at the same time — less costly.

One of the main strategies that can be used to reach that goal is to spend more on transportation services to help wring substantial savings from warehousing and inventory carrying costs.
