Most Automakers Report Higher U.S. Auto Sales in October

A majority of top automakers said their U.S. sales increased in October from a year ago, Associated Press reported.

Ford Motor Co. said its sales rose 6%, led by higher SUV and truck sales, while General Motors Co. reported a smaller 2% increase.

Ford Explorer SUV sales tripled from a year ago, AP said.

Other automakers reporting higher sales were Chrysler Group LLC with a 27% jump, Nissan Motor Co. with an 18% increase, Hyundai Motor Co. with 23% higher sales and Volkswagen AG with a 40% leap.



Toyota Motor Corp., however, said its sales fell 8%. Honda Motor Co.’s sales were flat.

Total U.S. car and truck sales in October rose 8% from last year to $1.02 million, according to Autodata Corp., AP reported.
