Nationwide Transport, a $5.2 million trucking startup, staged its grand opening in La Grange, Mo., in a facility located along the Mississippi River banks on the state’s northeastern border opposite Illinois.

“Nationwide Transport’s presence in La Grange is great news for our Northern region,” Missouri Gov. Mike Parson said recently. “Our ability to offer a thriving business climate, skilled workforce and superior infrastructure is vital to attracting and retaining businesses like Nationwide Transport, and we look forward to its future growth and success in Missouri.”

The company has converted an existing 4,800-square-foot building in La Grange into a headquarters with space for office personnel, a full shop and parking for its fleet of trucks, dry vans and temperature-controlled trailers.

“It’s always exciting to see a big project impact a small community through investment and job creation, especially when the investment is over $5 million,” said Michelle Hataway, director of the state Department of Economic Development. “Nationwide Transport is changing the game in La Grange and helping Missourians prosper.”

Nationwide Transport owner Andrew Eisenbeiss told Transport Topics he is realizing a long-held dream by starting his own company. After 20 years in upper management at a trucking firm where his father and grandfather also worked, Eisenbeiss is now applying his experience to guide Nationwide Transport. The company is based near his hometown in northeastern Missouri.

“The company is focused on in-state and cross-country shipping of dry goods, temperature-controlled food items and pharmaceutical products,” Eisenbeiss said. “We currently have 10 trucks, 15 temperature-controlled trailers and 15 dry vans, and will be an emerging transportation company bringing direction, precision and reliability to the road.”

He said the state’s Missouri Works program provided access to capital for tax incentives and resources for building upgrades to transform the site into a trucking terminal since Nationwide Transport made a commitment to the Lewis County area there to create seven local jobs as well as 10 over-the-road trucking positions. The new jobs are expected to pay better than average wages in the county.

“I feel honored to have the opportunity to reinvest in Lewis County through the creation of Nationwide Transport,” said Eisenbeiss. “We look forward to future growth and expansion opportunities that will allow us to continue investing in the surrounding communities for years to come.”

He said his company’s location in La Grange will provide significant growth potential, especially from across the Mississippi River in the opposite city of Quincy, Ill. The new headquarters also is expected to benefit from business from St. Louis and in Lewis County, where plans are in progress to open a river port.

Ralph Martin, executive director of the Lewis County Industrial Development Authority, noted, “I am so glad that the Lewis County Industrial Development Authority was able to, along with the Missouri Department of Economic Development, find programs that helped Nationwide Transport. I look forward to seeing Nationwide Transport grow and prosper in the coming years and to watch Lewis County reap the benefits of the company’s decision to start its business here.”
