Truck and engine maker Navistar Inc. said it has added Canadian telematics provider Shaw Tracking to its open-architecture remote diagnostics platform, OnCommand Connection.
Through this integration, Shaw Tracking’s onboard technology transmits vehicle status and diagnostic trouble codes to Navistar. OnCommand then uses this data to provide vehicle health reports and make service recommendations.
OnCommand also works with a variety of other major third-party telematics systems.
Navistar said OnCommand is available as a standard feature on all new International trucks and can also be installed on older Internationals and trucks built by other manufacturers.
“OnCommand Connection has had an extremely rapid rollout in the Canadian market, and we believe, with the addition of Shaw Tracking, we are set up to provide a telematics and remote vehicle health monitoring solution to every customer,” said Mike Cerilli, vice president and general manager of Navistar’s connected vehicle business.
