Navistar International Corp. sent layoff notices to about 250 workers at an Ohio truck assembly plant, the Springfield (Ohio) News-Sun reported.
The notices were given Friday to United Auto Workers employees at the company’s Springfield plant, the paper reported.
The layoffs were described as temporary but the notices to employees did not give a possible return date, the News-Sun said.
UAW members have been working without a contract since Oct. 1, and talks were to resume this week following the weekend, a Navistar spokesman told the newspaper.
The company moved production parts out of the plant two weeks ago, and the last truck rolled off its production line on Sept. 27, the News-Sun reported.
