Navistar Reorganizes Truck Business Into Four Global Units

Truck and engine maker Navistar International Corp. said it is organizing its truck segment into four business units to enhance its competitiveness around the world and strengthen its core businesses in North America.

The units will be: North American Truck Operations, Global Truck Operations, Global Bus Operations and Navistar Defense, Navistar said in a statement late Monday.

In April, Navistar reorganized its corporate units, renaming several of them to “bring clarity” to its brand names, which include the International brand truck.

The North American Truck Operations unit will focus on products, operations and sales for the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Global Truck Operations efforts will include expanding Navistar’s export operations and further development and implementation of its joint venture with India’s Mahindra and a proposed joint venture with Caterpillar.

Global Bus Operations will lead commercial and school bus product development, operations and sales throughout the world, while Navistar Defense will continue converting commercial truck platforms, engines and components into specialized vehicles for the U.S. military and allied countries.
