Navistar Sees Record Revenue in ’08

Truck and engine maker Navistar International Corp. said Wednesday that in the first half of this year its revenue will be $6.7 billion to $6.9 billion, and it will have a manufacturing segment profit of $375 million to $425 million.

“With recent billion-dollar-plus orders in our bus and defense businesses and considerable order receipt increases in our core truck markets, we expect to achieve record revenue in 2008,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Daniel Ustian.

“And, even more importantly, [Navistar expects to] deliver nearly $1 billion in manufacturing segment profit,” he said in a statement.

The company said its second-quarter worldwide shipments of Class 6-7 medium trucks and Class 8 heavy trucks, school buses and expansion market vehicles was 27,200 — a 41% increase over the first quarter.

The company also set an annual shareholders’ meeting date of Sept. 5.
