New Trucks to Be Added to W.Va. State Fleet

West Virginia-made Hino trucks soon will become part of the state Division of Highways’ road maintenance fleet, the Associated Press reported.

Gov. Joe Manchin (D) said the state will purchase 40 heavy-duty single rear-axle dump trucks that will be built at Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A.’s truck plant in Williamstown, W. Va., AP said.

Hino converted the former industrial plant into a truck assembly line. The company opened the plant in July 2007 and now produces about 2,500 trucks a year at the Wood County facility.

A division spokesman said the trucks will cost about $104,000 each, or almost $4.2 million altogether, AP reported.
