NFI Starts Dedicated Fleet in Florida Using CNG
Supply chain services provider NFI Industries announced that it launched a natural gas-fueled dedicated fleet in central Florida to serve a national home improvement retailer in the region.
The fleet will consist of 12 compressed natural-gas trucks that are expected to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by nearly 20% for the regional operation, according to the Cherry Hill, New Jersey-based company.
NFI ranks No. 30 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.

In partnership with NFI, Gain Clean Fuel has opened a new CNG station strategically located in Kissimmee, Florida, to support the carrier’s operational needs, NFI said.
“We are very excited to be working with Gain Clean Fuel on this new fueling station to support our natural-gas trucks,” Bill Bliem, senior vice president of fleet services at NFI, said in a release. “Even with fuel prices dropping, natural gas remains a sustainable, cost-effective alternative to diesel. NFI remains committed to lowering its emissions and impact on the environment.”
NFI also operates natural-gas trucks in California, Pennsylvania and Texas and deployed its first natural-gas fleet in Los Angeles in 2012. Its company-owned fleet consists of more than 2,000 tractors and 8,200 trailers operated by more than 2,600 company drivers and 250 owner-operators, according to the company.
