N.J. DOT Awards Three Grants

The New Jersey Department of Transportation announced three grants worth a total of $700,000 that would help municipalities in three counties advance safety and pavement reconstruction projects.

The New Jersey Local Aid Infrastructure Fund program is worth $329 million in the current fiscal year. The grants awarded, according to a March 14 departmental statement, are:

• $250,000 to Stanhope in Sussex County for pedestrian safety and sidewalk construction on routes 183 and 206;

• $250,000 to Hillsdale in Bergen County to resurface Baylor and Kent avenues; and

• $200,000 to Weehawken in Hudson County to resurface several streets, including Cooper Place, Potter Place and Oak Street.

Municipalities apply for LAIF grants on an as-needed basis throughout the year, NJDOT said. The department awards grants periodically based on the availability of funding and the strength of the application.
