N.J. Turnpike Tolls Could Rise

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority wants to raise tolls 26% over the next three years on truckers paying cash at tollbooths. Discounted fares would be available to truckers taking advantage of E-ZPass, the state’s electronic toll collection system.

The toll hikes are part of a larger financing proposal that would increase some car drivers’ tolls by 37% over the same period.

The New Jersey Motor Truck Association is backing the increases to raise revenue for infrastructure improvements worth $917 million.
