North Dakota Jumps On Biodiesel Bandwagon

Soybean growers will be happier if the North Dakota Legislature passes one or both of the two new bills intended to boost the use of biodiesel.

One bill, introduced in the state Senate, would try to make biodiesel purchases more attractive by reducing the excise tax for off-road use to 1.8% from 2%.

Another bill, this one in the state House, would require all diesel fuel sold in North Dakota to be at least 2% biodiesel and would take effect Jan. 1, 2002.
