ORLANDO, Fla. – The expected showdown over who will be allowed to participate in American Trucking Associations’ National Truck Driving Championships was postponed until further input from state trucking associations and members can be gathered.
ATA, in its continuing effort to lock down its services to the companies who pay for them, proposed to allow only members to participate in the championships.
The decision was to come before ATA’s board of directors at the organization’s annual conference held Oct. 31 to Nov. 3, but it was put off until their next meeting in February for further study.

The issue raises concerns for state trucking associations because they hold the preliminary rounds of the championships, and many of the companies that compete at that level are not in ATA.
