NTTC Declines to Vote on ATA Afiliation

CHICAGO — The National Tank Truck Carriers Association declined to take a formal vote May 17 on its future relationship with American Trucking Associations, hoping that time will allow the two groups to retain close relations.

Convening during the tank group’s annual meeting, May 15-17, NTTC’s board of directors voted essentially to keep the status quo for the time being.

The strategic plan adopted by ATA’s executive committee in August 1998 calls for conferences to affiliate with the federation by Jan. 1, 2001.

“We still have until Jan. 1. Maybe something will change,” said Lance Hillman, who was elected chairman of NTTC at last week’s meeting. “Time is on our side, I believe. At least we’re talking with them.”
