N.Y. Association Promotes Bestpass To Let Trucks Bypass Weigh, Toll Stops

img src="/sites/default/files/images/articles/printeditiontag_new.gif" width=120 align=right>The New York State Motor Truck Association recently began offering a system that it said will easily allow truckers to bypass weigh stations and tolls in many states with just one cab-mounted device and to secure deeper discounts than they could on their own.

NYSMTA President William G. Joyce said the new system, Bestpass, allows true “interoperability” — industry-speak for the goal of tying together seamlessly all of the various electronic clearance services that states employ.

“The situation today is that we have technological interoperability, but we don’t have it in the real world for most companies,” Joyce said in an interview.
