Obama Signs Short-Term Highway Bill

President Obama signed a short-term version of the highway bill as Congress works to get him the full legislation to fund federal transportation programs through September 2014, the Associated Press reported.

Obama signed the one-week extension Friday following Congressional passage of the highway bill and is expected to sign the full law in the coming days, AP said.

The bill allows more than $100 billion to be spent on highway, mass transit and other transportation programs over the next two years. Funding for such programs would have expired on Saturday.
