October Import Prices Jump 0.9%

The price of goods imported to the United States rose 0.9% in October, the highest in six months, the Labor Department said Wednesday.

Prices excluding petroleum rose 0.3% for a third straight month.

The overall increase followed a revised 0.1% gain in September that was originally reported as a 0.3% increase.

The gain was short of economists’ forecast of a 1.2% increase, Bloomberg reported.

U.S. export prices rose 0.8%, following a 0.6% gain in September, Labor said.
