Trailer orders rose 6% in October from a year ago to 24,900 units, ACT Research Co. reported.

The October figure represented an “impressive” 43% increase over September, ACT said in a Nov. 22 statement.

“Improvement in orders was widespread in October, as seven of ten trailer categories were positive month over month, with most of those posting solid double-digit gains,” Frank Maly, director of commercial transportation analysis at ACT, said in the group’s statement.

“Cancellations were low, which continues to indicate both an absence of speculative orders in the backlog as well as a confirmation that trailers on the orderboard are truly needed,” he said.
