ODFL Names Greg Gantt Chief Operating Officer

Old Dominion Freight Line said Tuesday it promoted Greg Gantt to be its chief operating officer.

Gantt joined Old Dominion in 1994 and was senior vice president of operations since 2002. He continues reporting to David Congdon, Old Dominion’s CEO.

Gantt took on additional responsibilities in corporate and field services following the unexpected death late last year of John Yowell, ODFL’s former chief operating officer. Yowell had been COO since 2008.

Congdon said was instrumental in guiding Old Dominion to a 99% on-time delivery rate as well as a cargo claims ratio of about 0.5%.

ODFL is ranked No. 20 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
