Third-party logistics provider Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corp. said Jan. 11 it has acquired Optimodal Inc. to expand intermodal service options in North America for containerized chemicals shipments.
The announcement by Danbury, Conn.-based Odyssey identified Optimodal as the largest North American intermodal provider of those shipments in International Standards Organization, or ISO, containers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Odyssey specializes in managing domestic and international shipments for chemical companies using ocean, rail and truck services. As a result of the acquisition, Optimodal, West Chester, Pa., will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Connecticut company.
“OL&T continues to make ac-quisitions that augment its ability to offer a complete portfolio of managed services as well as expand its client base,” said Robert Shellman, chief executive officer of Odyssey. “The purchase of Optimodal meets these objectives and at the same time provides Optimodal employees with additional opportunities within a larger organization.”
“Now is the right time to partner with Odyssey because there is a huge opportunity to leverage each other’s strengths and move faster towards our long-term vision,” said Greg Snyder, president of Optimodal.
Odyssey manages shipments between 185,000 origins and destinations, including 220 ports.
