Ohio Grand Jury Declines to Indict Truck Driver

A grand jury chose not to indict a trucker accused of vehicular homicide.

Lawrence Carr, an employee of S. Floyd Trucking Co. in Toledo, Ohio, faced charges of aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with an October accident that resulted in the death of Delaina Dodgson.

Police said Mr. Carr’s truck rear-ended the car driven by Ms. Dodgson, who was slowing for construction. The car was forced into another truck.

Julia Bates, the prosecutor in charge of the case, vowed to gather more evidence and try for an indictment again with another grand jury. If she still fails to obtain a felony indictment, she said, she will charge the trucker with a misdemeanor count of vehicular homicide.
