Old Dominion’s First-Quarter Income Rises

Old Dominion Freight Line said Thursday its first-quarter income and revenue increased from a year ago.

Net income rose to $40.6 million, or 47 cents per share, from $31.1 million, or 36 cents, a year ago. Revenue rose 7.1% to $532.6 million, the less-than-truckload carrier said.

Total tons per day rose 5.2% for the quarter, which had one less day than last year’s comparable period.

Old Dominion Freight Line is ranked No. 14 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
