Trucking technology supplier Omnitracs has renamed its predictive analytics business and promoted Dean Croke to vice president to lead the unit.
Omnitracs Analytics, previously known as FleetRisk Advisors, offers a predictive modeling platform that examines many data streams collected by fleets to help them anticipate events such as accidents and driver turnover and take action to prevent them.
The business unit’s new name more accurately describes its efforts to develop a broader set of analytics offerings, the company said.
Croke joined Omnitracs Analytics in 2005 and previously was the director of sales. He will lead the unit’s day-to-day operations and guide the development of its new maintenance model, which will join its existing platforms for fleet safety, driver recruiting and retention, and worker’s compensation.
“Predictive analytics technology is challenging traditional personnel management practices by shining a light on the psychology behind today’s drivers,” Croke said in the Nov. 12 announcement.
Omnitracs, formerly part of Qualcomm Inc., purchased FleetRisk in 2011.
Omnitracs said the unit’s name change and Croke’s promotion reflect “a renewed emphasis and expanded focus” on the value of predictive analytics and “big data” to improve safety and efficiency.
