Company Gets $1.2 Billion Army Truck Contract

Specialty truck maker Oshkosh Corp. said Monday its fiscal fourth-quarter profit dropped 37% from a year ago, to $53.6 million, or 72 cents per share, from $85.4 million, or $1.14, a year ago.

Sales rose 5.8% to $1.9 billion for the quarter ended Sept. 30, the company said in a statement.

Separately, the company said it won a $1.2 billion contract to build heavy-duty trucks for the U.S. Army reported.

The vehicles will have power-train and suspension upgrades compared with current models, Oshkosh said in a statement.



Oshkosh said it will add more than 6,000 vehicles to the Army’s fleet under a three-year contract.

For fiscal 2009, Oshkosh said it expects to earn $1.65 to $2.05 per share, on sales of $6.3 billion to $6.7 billion.
