Oshkosh Reports Third-Quarter Loss

Specialty truck maker Oshkosh Truck Corp. reported a third-quarter loss of $84.3 million, or $1.14 a share, compared with earning $90.6 million, or $1.21, a year ago.

Sales rose to $1.97 billion, from $1.85 billion, for the quarter ended June 30, the company said in a statement.

Commercial segment sales fell 7.3% to $294.5 million, caused by a 20% decline in sales of concrete placement products, offset in part by increased refuse collection vehicle sales, the company said.

Oshkosh had said in June that it would likely take a loss for the quarter.
