Specialty truck maker Oshkosh Corp.’s earnings slipped for its fiscal second quarter, but sales rose.
Net earnings were $37.3 million, or 41 cents per share, down from $67.9 million, or 74 cents, a year ago.
Revenue for the quarter ended March 31 rose to $2.08 billion, from $1.75 billion.
Its commercial segment’s operating income slipped to $3.9 million, or 2.3% of sales, from $5.3 million, or 3.5%, a year ago. Segment sales rose 10.2% to $167.7 million.
Defense segment sales rose 1.5% to $987.3 million. Its fire truck segment reported an operating loss of $11.3 million.
Sales for its access equipment segment, which includes cherry pickers to reach high places, jumped 61.4% to $760.4 million, Oshkosh said.
