Otto Co-Founder Anthony Levandowski Joins Autonomous Panel at ATA Conference

Anthony Levandowski, the co-founder of Otto, has been confirmed as a panelist at American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition next week in Las Vegas.

Levandowski will appear Oct. 4 at 8 a.m. PDT on a panel a panel titled, “Autonomous and Platooning Trucks: How Soon? How Disruptive?”

Otto, a startup firm founded earlier this year, is developing a self-driving aftermarket kit for heavy-duty trucks. Otto was acquired by Uber last month, and Levandowski was made head of the self-driving vehicles division. He previously was with Google.

Levandowski has spoken at an ATA event in the past; he was a guest at the Executive Summit in December 2013, in Dallas, appearing as one of the founders of the Google Driverless Car Project. (See video of that appearance below.)



The other Oct. 4 panelists are:

  • Josh Switkes, co-founder and CEO of Peloton Technology Inc.
  • Sean Waters, director of compliance and regulatory affairs of Daimler Trucks North America
  • Michael Roeth, executive director of the North American Council for Freight Efficiency
  • Jude Hurin, administrator of the management services and programs division at the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, which has allowed testing of autonomous trucks.
