Overhaul, a service seeking to capitalize on new trucking technology, announced the development of its Web platform and mobile app, which targets small carriers and shippers of higher-value cargo.
The Austin, Texas-based company is beginning carrier and customer contact in advance of a midyear launch of its service, meant to reach owner-operators and their customers. It is the latest version of the market approach that has become known as the “uberization of trucking,” based on the ridesharing service’s name.
An Overhaul statement said the company is focusing on creating “a trusted online marketplace,” capitalizing on the skills of CEO Barry Conlon. He is a former CEO at FreightWatch, a cargo security-monitoring service.
“With Overhaul, trusted drivers can thrive in an environment they get to design for themselves,” Conlon said. “We provide a secure method for shippers to move cargo with recognized and trusted drivers at our foundation.”
