Paccar Inc. announced it will extend to April 20 its suspension of truck and engine production at its factories worldwide.

The shutdown initially was scheduled to last from March 24 until April 6. Paccar again cited weaker outlook for the global economy as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.

The manufacturer’s North American brands include Peterbilt Motors Co., Kenworth Truck Co. and the MX engine. In Europe, it makes DAF trucks.

Paccar’s announcement stated, “[The company] will continue to provide aftermarket support to its customers who deliver medical supplies, food and essential infrastructure services to our communities.”
