Paccar Inc. is recalling about 100 Kenworth and Peterbilt 2015 year truck models due to potential issues with brakes, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
Brake caliper bolts may not be properly torqued on Peterbilt 210, 220 and 320 models, and on Kenworth K270, K370, T660, T800, T880 trucks that were manufactured between July 21-Sept. 16 of last year, the agency said.
“As a result, the brake caliper bolts may loosen, reducing the effectiveness of the brakes and increasing the risk of a crash,” NHTSA’s notice said. About 106 trucks were potentially affected.
The agency said Paccar will notify owners and that dealers will inspect, tighten or replace any loose caliper bolts, free of charge.
Paccar has not yet provided a notification schedule, but truck owners may contact Peterbilt or Kenworth customer service for assistance. The NHTSA recall notice numbers are 15KWA for Kenworth, and 115B for Peterbilt.
