LAFAYETTE, Calif. — Pacer International expanded its intermodal and freight brokerage operations with the acquisition of Manufacturers Consolidation Service of Memphis, Tenn.
MCS operates in 26 cities, principally in the Southeast, and provides drayage through a subsidiary called Levcon.
Pacer Chief Executive Officer Donald C. Orris said a merger of the two companies will improve efficiency and service to customers by increasing volume and providing better east-west balance of freight and equipment movements.
Pacer previously acquired Interstate Consolidation, Los Angeles; Stutz & Company, Kansas City, Mo.; and the Cross Con, Chicago. The company also acquired Professional Logistics Management Co. and 3PL Corp., both based in Lafayette, Calif.
Pacer Transport is a heavy-haul trucking unit based in DeSoto, Texas.
