Pasha Group Completes Acquisition of Horizon Lines’ Hawaii Business
The Pasha Group said May 29 it completed the acquisition of the Hawaii trade-lane business of Horizon Lines Inc.
The Pasha Group, a shipping and integrated logistics company, has served the Hawaii market for more than 50 years, adding roll-on/roll-off liner service between the islands and U.S. mainland in 2005.
Horizon Lines Inc., a U.S.-flagged ocean carrier whose founder invented the concept of shipping goods in containers, said late last year it was winding down operations after agreeing to sell the bulk of its business to Matson Inc. and The Pasha Group for nearly $600 million.
Pasha Hawaii assumes operations for all of Horizon’s Hawaii business, including its four U.S.-flag containerships serving the Hawaii trade lane. The Pasha Group also has acquired Horizon subsidiaries Hawaii Stevedores Inc.; the California-based operations of Sea-Logix, which provides trucking services; and Sunrise Operations, a subsidiary that includes Horizon’s Hawaii trade-lane vessels and employees.
“Horizon Lines, Hawaii Stevedores and Sea-Logix are companies that complement The Pasha Group’s legacy of a proud family history; a focus on innovation and service with an ability to combine competencies to provide streamlined solutions,” company CEO George Pasha IV said in a statement.
