Patriot Reports First-Quarter Loss

Patriot Transportation Holding took a fiscal first-quarter loss of $139,000 or 5 cents a share, compared with net income of $2.2 million or 69 cents a year earlier.

Revenue for the quarter ended Dec. 31 rose 5.6% to $39.2 million, the tank truck and flatbed carrier said late Tuesday.

Transportation segment revenue rose by $1.2 million to $32.9 million over the previous first quarter.

The results were hurt by lower flatbed hauling business, the company said in a statement.

Chief Executive Officer John Anderson’s retirement is effective Wednesday, and he will be succeeded by John Baker.

Patriot operates tank carrier Florida Rock & Tank Lines, flatbed hauler SunBelt Transport and a real estate business.
